Lauki ka Bharta or Lauki ka Chokha is a yummy delicious Indian curry where grated bottle gourd is cooked with spices. It can be served with any Indian style meal. Here is how to make it. Bharta, it is one of the famous recipes that is made in almost every North Indian household.

Ingredients

 5 servings
  1. 300 g Lauki
  2. 3 tbsp Mustard Oil
  3. 1 cup Onions (finely chopped)
  4. 1 tsp Ginger Garlic (Paste)
  5. 1/4 tbsp blak pepper powder
  6. 1 cup Tomato (grated)
  7. 2 tsp Green Chilli (Chopped)
  8. 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
  9. 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  10. 1/2 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
  11. to taste Salt
  12. 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  13. 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander (finely chopped)
  14. 1/2 tbsp Gram masala powder
  15. 1 tbsp Red chilli powder

Steps

  1. 1. Wash and peel the lauki. And boil in pressure cooker. when boil keep aside

  2. 2. Heat oil in a pan.

  3. 3. Once the oil is hot, add green chilli and let them crackle for a few seconds.

  4. 4. Add onions and saute for a 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5. Add ginger and garlic paste and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  6. 6. Add tomatoes and cook for 3-4 minutes.

  7. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder,red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, blak pepper powder, gram masala powder and salt.

  8. Add boiled mashed lauki and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  9. Cover the pan and cook for 8-10 minutes until oil starts to separate from the sides of the pan.

  10. Add lemon juice and fresh coriander and mix well.

  11. Serve hot.
