Katori chaat is also known as tokri chaat. To make katori chaat, small to medium sized baskets are made from flour maida. These are then filled with the quintessential chaat ingredients like boiled chana (chickpeas), potatoes, spicy and sweet chutneys, curd, chaat masala etc.
The crispiness of the fried maida flour basket is distinctly felt when eating katori chaat. There are many flavors, textures and tastes bursting in the mouth. all I can say is that you have to eat this chaat to experience its awesome taste and flavor.

Need an appetizer or snack for a party, try katori chaat recipe or tokri chaat!! ‘Katori or tokri’ refers to a bowl or canopies that are filled with potatoes and chutneys and ‘chaat’ is the term used for savory Indian street snacks. Ingredients

 6 servings
  1. FOR KATORI:
  2. 480 gram maida / plain flour / all purpose flour
  3. 1/2 tsp salt to taste
  4. 30 ml or 2 tbsp oil,
  5. water to knead
  6. oil for frying
  7. FOR KATORI CHAAT:
  8. 1 cup chickpea / chana, boiled
  9. 1 potato / aloo, boiled & cubed
  10. 2 tbsp green chutney
  11. 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  12. 1 cup curd / yogurt
  13. prinkle red chilli powder
  14. ▢sprinkle cumin powder / jeera powder
  15. Rock salt (Sendha namak)
  16. 1 onion, finely chopped
  17. 1 tomato, finely chopped
  18. 1/2 cup namak para
  19. leaves few coriander
  20. sprinkle chaat masala
  21. sprinkle salt

Steps

  1. 1. firstly, prepare maida dough.

  2. 2. now pinch a ball sized dough, and flatten it.

  3. 3. dust flour as required and roll slightly thick.

  4. 4. prick the flattened dough with fork.

  5. 5. place a small katori or cup and wrap the dough.

  6. 7. splash oil till the katori separates from the dough.

  7. 8. now fry the katori, till it turns golden and crisp.

  8. 9. drain off over kitchen paper and keep aside.

  9. 10. prepare chaat by assembling katori in a plate.

  10. 11. add in 2 tsp boiled chana, 2 tsp boiled and cubed potato, 1 tsp green chutney, 1 tsp tamarind chutney and 1 tbsp curd.

  11. 12. also sprinkle chilli powder, cumin powder and Rock salt(sendha namak) and salt.

  12. 13. add in a tbsp of onion and tomato.

  13. 14. garish with 2 tbsp namakpara and few coriander leaves.

  14. 15. finally, serve katori chaat immediately, sprinkling chaat masala over it.
